A Tree Grows in West Reading
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008A quick post this morning as I wait for some people to deliver a tree that will, I hope, make my tiny back yard look less like a sunburnt wasteland and more like an inviting place to sit and relax and, perhaps, knit. Do you knit outside? I seldom do, but I have knitted at ball games, picnics, and while waiting to meet someone. I know someone who used to knit socks and walk around a track at the same time. I would be falling over all the time, I’m sure.
I have almost no pictures to show this week. We were busy changing the shop over last week and just didn’t get a chance to take pictures. The work continues this week, as we put away summer yarns and change displays and bring out new models and yarns. Here’s one new model that is knit in a beautiful extra-fine merino tweed called Extra Stampato:

…wonderful autumn colors, soft, and the pattern is a simple one from Oat Couture, suitable for beginning sweater-knitters. This is the kind of sweater you can’t wait to pull on in the fall.
I’m still working on my “Get an Edge to Start” shawl – slow-going for me this time of year because there are so many new things to knit with, but I do a repeat of the pattern now and then. Here is a detail of the tip of the edging, done with short rows – it’s really so pretty.

The beaded silk has so much weight and drape – it’s going to be very glamorous!
Okay, I’m afraid that’s it for today. The guys have just finished planting my baby tree, so I must go and tell it how beautiful it is.
See you soon…
Trish
