Just Pics
Tuesday, October 14th, 2008It’s wild and crazy at the shop – thank you so much! – and so much to do even when we’re closed, that I’m just posting pictures this week:
This is what UPS delivered last Wednesday morning: Cascade, Plymouth, Debbie Bliss, Manos – and much more! We really scrambled to get this onto shelves (some have not made it – I got Casbah from Fleece Artist – so beautiful, but I haven’t finished chuckling and rubbing my hands and gleefully murmuring “I’m rich, I’m rich!” to myself. I’ll share it soon, I promise.)

Whooppeeeeee – lots of new yarn!
I finished the foulard in Ella Rae’s Lace Merino and the pattern is now free with purchase of any hand-dye at the shop:
This is as knitted:
This is while blocking:
And this is Karen modeling:
Light, lovely, easy, quick!
I also finished the top-down sweater in Superior (laceweight cashmere/silk) from a Cocoknits pattern. This was last week’s status:
And these show two ways to wear the finished garment. Just took 2 balls, so soft and pretty!

Donna Guthrie designed this Seaman’s Scarf – the pattern is available for sale at the shop. She has made it in several yarns: Kid Classic from Rowan, Sportweight Alpaca from Frog Tree, and Adagio from skacel’s Primera collection, all very pretty. This is in the alpaca:

And this is Janet modeling a wonderful wrap she just finished in Debbie Bliss Luxury Donegal Tweed, with another version of Donna’s scarf around her neck. The wrap is a design from Plymouth which we modified to make in one piece. (Doesn’t she look great? This is a terrific color for her, n’est-ce pas?))
I want one!!!
Annette Lengel made this old-fashioned baby bonnet from a vintage pattern in Panda Silk – it’s too cute:

Britta Hyneman made this adorable little baby sweater in Encore from a pattern from Last Minute Knitted Gifts:

and Sandy Albert is finishing up some kids’ projects too. This is in yummy Cashsoft DK from a favorite hoodie pattern:

and this is modified from a Knit One Crochet Too pattern, to size it up from baby to little girl:

Jeannie Edfort made this amazing shrug from Sari Silk and various coordinating yarns:

She also makes and sells these fabulous bags at her Etsy store, www.GloryByJeannieLee.etsy.com. Wow!

What a week!! Come by soon….
Trish

which is good after we all made those wonderful top-down wrap sweaters last year. And I’ve seen a lot of coat sweaters in stores – not just in knitting magazines, placed by the yarn companies in the hopes that you will buy tons of yarn to make them. Usually the coats designed by the yarn companies are coated in cables and lots of rib, so they take up even more yarn! Not that they can’t be beautiful, of course, and well worth knitting, but I always smile a little when I see something like that in Knit N Style or some other knitting magazine – huge, lots of texture, and done in a yarn that the company can’t give away. Check this beauty out:
Don’t you want to drop everything and knit it up?

and here’s the sweater flat:
