Ice, Ice, Baby
It’s a nasty old morning out there. Freezing rain has absolutely nothing to recommend it. It’s not pretty, refreshing or romantic, just wet, cold, and dangerous.
Yesterday I was right in the middle of getting things ready for taxes, so was in no mood to post. It’s not that it’s so bad, or that I pay a million dollars in taxes or anything like that. It’s that there is so much computer stuff to do and so much manual stuff to do, and lucky for me, I’m good at it all, but it’s so darn time-consuming to be sure the numbers are all where they should be, and to do the manual stuff, such as cash expenses and inventory adjustments and so on. I can do it, but my mind gets all wrapped up in it and I can’t think of anything clever or fun to talk about. If I mentally leave the process, I certainly don’t want to go back so I didn’t update yesterday. I’m not finished, but I’m done for the week anyway.
I was such a good little worker that I treated myself with something new and fun to knit. I couldn’t really find anything I was excited about for a couple weeks. I piddled around and finished a Baby Surprise Jacket for the daughter of a friend who is having a baby in February. I want to do a hat to match, then that’s that. I want to do a pair of socks but don’t know what. i want to do an afghan but can’t settle into anything definite. So, Berroco sent me a bag of Bonsai Colors, their bamboo ribbon that they’re doing in multicolors this year, and I started a top-down tee right away. It’s soft, it’s fun, the colorplay is interesting, and I’m experimenting with a deep slip-stitch rib at the bottom and on the sleeves that I think will let the ribbon show its character. I haven’t knitted with ribbon for a couple years, was just sick of ribbon in general, and now it all feels and looks new and fresh again. I’ll post a photo through e-mail of my progress so far. Meanwhile, don’t miss the projects below – David Ritz has a newly finished sweater – he’s so amazing, isn’t he?
Classes are filling up nicely, I’m pleased to say. Out entrelac stole class is filled, and we’re taking names for a waiting list and a possible second class. Don’t hesitate to call if you’re interested! I think there are still spaces in most other classes, but don’t wait too long to call.
Okay, I have to figure out how I’m going to get the dogs outside. They hate rain, and I hate ice, so none of us is looking forward to our walk. Be careful today – see you soon!
