Summer Classes Are Up!

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Yay, our class schedule for summer is done, and it’s a good one.  The email will be sent this morning – I hope you find something fun to make.  Check out David’s hoodie below – it’s gorgeous! He’s back on track with his speed knitting after his fishermen’s knit odyssey.

There’s been too much computer time for me this past week and a half, so I’m just going to get right to the stuff I want to show you:

First, from Plymouth, we received two new sock yarns.  One is a superwash wool and nylon called Zino.  It has long tweedy color changes, more subtle than they look here,  and a soft hand:

and here is Sockotta Limited, a cotton/wool/nylon blend in great summer colors:

We also got in a bit of Kudo, a soft cotton/rayon/silk blend that self stripes and makes a great scarf for non-wool people.

Here are some really adorable crocheted hats that Lynda Slovitsky has been making – so cute!  Hard to believe she just took Lynne’s beginner class only last fall, isn’t it?  The flowers are hand crocheted, too and have pin backs so they can be removed to change the look or for washing.  She’s looking for a place to sell them, so if she finds an outlet, I’ll let you all know.

I’ve vowed to only do small projects for the month of May – I’m sweatered out, even though the new Interweave Knits has one that I’m dying to do.  This little hat is a new free pattern from Plymouth that is just ridiculously cute and takes 2 skeins of Royal Llama Silk.  (I wish I could figure out how to take a picture of the back of my own head so you could see the hat instead of the nose.)

I’ve just finished a little shawl in Venezia Worsted that was easy and fun – don’t have a photo, maybe today – from this free pattern on Kelbourne Woolens website.  And I’m working on a very unusual wrap using Cha-Cha, a self-ruffling ribbon from Trendsetter, and Furin, a new yarn for summer from Noro – it’s going to be wild and crazy – and sometimes you just have to be, right?

I’m going away for the weekend, so Janet will be on her own in the shop on Saturday, and we’ll be closed on Sunday.

Check out the classes and I hope we’ll see you soon!
