I really mean the color blue, not the mood. You’ll notice a definite tendency toward blue in all the photos in this post.
Najma Iqbal modeled this linen vest for me – she was dressed in the perfect colors so I trapped her! Karen Wenrich knit this for us months ago, but it took me a long time to write the pattern, which you wouldn’t think would take so much since it’s such a simple piece, but I was on to other things for a while. She knit it in Claudia Handpaints Linen – beautiful colors! – and I think it would also look wonderful in Hempathy. I love it as a casual layering piece for summer. The pattern will be free with purchase of yarn to make it.

Najma ambushed into modeling!
Karen Walter finished this gorgeous lace “Apres Surf Hoodie”, done in Brown Sheep’s Cotton Fine, from Interweave Knits Summer 08. Doesn’t she look wonderful in it?

Just yummy!
And Donna Guthrie made this cushy cowl from Mountain Colors’ River Twist and 2 colors of Plymouth Galway, from a free Lion Brand pattern. (Sorry, don’t have a link.) We’ll be scheduling a class for this soon:

As a neckwarmer

As a hood
It’s lovely and Donna says it’s quick to make (if you get up at 4 every morning to get a couple of hours of knitting in before you start your day, as Donna does.)
I’m still working on my gorgeous wrap and really just enjoying every single stitch. Here’s what’s been happening:

45 of these little guys

15 of these (each one picked up from 3 little guys)

5 of these (each one picked up from 3 of the medium guys)
I’m on the third big fella, two more to go, then I’ll pick up from all 5 of them to make the central piece. Do you know the feeling when your knitting is just flowing and the yarn is beautiful and the end result will be lovely? That’s the zen of knitting and I’m definitely in that space with this project. Someone asked did I think anyone else would want to make it, and I replied that some things just have to be knit. Just for the simple love of it!
See you soon…wear blue!
