Note: Unless you are taking one of our beginner series classes, please bring basic supplies to class.  They include:  scissors, stitch markers, yarn needle, tape measure, stitch holders, point protectors, a medium-sized crochet hook, a pen or pencil.

Class Policies:  Unless otherwise specified:

  1. advance registration with payment is required to hold your place.
  2. no refunds or credit unless you cancel before the day of the class. We value our teachers' time!
  3. refunds will be in the form of shop credit unless the class is cancelled by Yarn Gallery.
  4. materials are not included in class price.

Beginner Classes - Knitting - No experience necessary

This series covers cast-on, knitting, purling, binding off, different kinds of increases and decreases, pattern stitches, how to fix mistakes, and more.  You'll learn everything you need to get a good start

or to refresh your knitting skills. Then you can move on to the beautiful projects you'll see in our shop and on our blog!

Four sessions:  Saturdays, January 7, 14, 28 & February 4

Advanced Beginner - Knitting

Skills: You know the long-tail or knitted cast-on, knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing and binding off.

 

Fair-Isle Yoke Sweater

Traditional style and beautiful colors = sweater you'll wear all winter.  Choose an array of heathered wool colors to make the fun yoke, and use your leftovers to make the adorable little bag.

Using Charts

Scared of a few symbols? No need!  Charts can make a knitter's life easier.  Learn the basics of chart reading, both for stitch patterns and for colorwork.

Seaming Class

Learn the technique of mattress stitch (also called invisible weaving) and never dread seaming again.  This method is applicable to almost any situation and nearly invisble.

Intermediate - Knitting

Skills:  Proficiency in the advanced beginner skills, including knitting in the round, simple cables and lace, and basic finishing techniques.  You have completed successful projects using these techniques.

 

Cabled Mittens

Warm, soft, and lovely, these mittens will be a beautiful and practical winter accesory. Worked on double pointed needles with cables and seed stitch, this project will challenge and interest any knitter.

Shetland Shawl

This beautiful shawl, designed by Jared Flood, is a gorgeous example of Shetland knitting.  A pretty lace pattern in the body of the shawl is worked first, then the edging is attached as you work it.

Dahlia Cardigan

A niice mix of challenging and simple, the Dahlia Cardigan starts with a beautiful lace motif worked from the center out, then the rest of the sweater is built around the motif, with almost no finishing.  Try on the model and fall in love...you'll want to make this sweater!
