Meanwhile....

Do you believe it took 3 weeks (!!!) for Earthlink to re-connect me to the Internet after I moved?  Well, you should probably be glad; otherwise you would have had to hear every last detail of the whole ordeal.  Now it's over, I'm in the new place, and we can all get on with our lives.

I hope everyone had wonderful holidays.  Mine were spent quietly, getting to know my new house.  Everyone says this is the fun part - organizing, decorating, deciding where things should go.  I think that may be true if you're any good at those things, but truthfully, I can think about that kind of thing for about 20 minutes before I get lost and overwhelmed, and then I have to sit down and knit for about 5 or 10 minutes to regain my composure. I'm afraid that getting this place in order is going to be a long drawn-out affair, but that's okay.  I have to remind myself that it doesn't have to be done today.

So what is everyone knitting?  I have some great pictures to show you.  First is a really cute shot of Judy Alderman's granddaughters, Grace and Sophia.  Aren't they beautiful little girls?  Judy made the matching jumpers from Plymouth's "Jelli Beenz," with a picot edge and eyelets for the ribbon trim at the hem.  You can tell a lot of time and love (not to mention some very good knitting) went into the project, can't you?

Next is another cute project, a baby sweater made by Alice Batchelder from a soft, soft hand-dyed cotton.  It turned out great, and she found the perfect little heart-shaped buttons to use.

And last but not least, Kathy Muzevich brought in an afghan she made from Manos, using all different stitch patterns in shades of brown and natural.  It's absolutely gorgeous and I'm sure the special person who received it as a gift was really thrilled.

Well, I'll be catching things up over the next week or so, so look for new classes, a new idea for Wednesday evenings, and some ideas on how to celebrate our fifth anniversary.  Stay tuned!

See you soon...

Trish

December 6, 2006

This is the week of the big move, so this will be short, and I'll try to be sweet, really I will, but it won't be EASY!  I'll just say the important thing, which is that the store will be open all this week, with Becky, Karen, and Janet covering for a very thankful me on Friday and Saturday.  And while I'm thinking of it, the store will be closed on Sunday, December 24 and Sunday, December 31 as well as the following Mondays and Tuesdays for the holidays.

Meanwhile  I have a couple of cute things to show you.  Becky made an adorable pair of wristwarmers from a Knitty.com pattern in Ritratto and Multicolor from Tahki/Stacy Charles.  They are very pretty and surprisingly warm.  If you want to make them, you have to download the pattern yourself - Knitty forbids retailers from downloading their patterns for store use. It's too bad - I would certainly be willing to pay a fee to be able to download them for my customers, but... In any case, here is Becky's version:

The other project that I managed to get a picture of this week is a sweater Theresa Schmal made for her son for Christmas.  It's a wonderful sweater in charcoal Galway that she worked on during the long hot summer and fall, and she did a beautiful job..  Now she's worried about whether he'll like it.  I don't think she has a thing to worry about!

Okay, that's all I can allow myself to write this week.  Gotta get more things crossed off my list(s)!

Wish me luck and see you soon...

Trish
